What are the requirements to make the team?

Swimmers need to be comfortable in the water and skilled enough to be safe. They must be 5 years of age as of June 1st and be able to swim the length of the pool.  All new swimmers, 8 years and younger, will be assessed during the first two weeks of practice by the coaching staff.

When are swim meets?

The swim meet schedule is determined by the North Star Swim League and is posted on the Calendar section of the SwimTopia website.   Regulation division meets are weekdays and begin at 6:00 PM (5:00 PM arrival).  Novice/Developmental division (speedy meets) are Saturdays and begin at 9:00 AM (8:00 AM arrival).   Detailed meet information can be found on the Meets section, Structure tab.

    • Any previous Marlins swimsuit/jammers and/or black swimsuit/jammers are acceptable.

These suits can also be found on Amazon or alternate swim sites.  If you are unsure of size, please visit Kiefer Aquatics located inside the Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatic Center to try on, with the option to purchase.

  • Goggles: Please make sure your child has a good pair of goggles that fit securely.
  • Swim Team Shirt and Cap: Will be distributed prior to the first meet. Swim caps help keep some chlorine out of the hair, but more importantly they help swimmers swim faster.  How to Put on a Swim Cap

How do I write my swimmer(s) events on their arm?

You can find the events your child will be participating in on the SwimTopia mobile app.   The athlete report and heat sheet will also be available on the Marlins website prior to the meet.  Each child will need to have their name (first initial. last name) and event numbers written on their upper right arm or forearm with black Sharpie (apply sunscreen first).

What happens if my swimmer(s) is unable to attend a swim meet I declared they were attending?

If your swimmer(s) is unable to attend a swim meet after your have declared their attendance, it is your responsibility to notify us as soon as possible. If there is a change in plans, or an emergency and you are going to miss a meet, please email [email protected] as soon as possible.

What is the inclement weather policy?

According to the American Red Cross guidelines, all swimmers must clear the pool for a minimum of 30 minutes in the event of thunder and/or lightning.  We will do our best to communicate inclement weather via the SwimTopia mobile app, email and social media accounts.
